John has been making scraperboard pictures and cards for 40years. A good quality, smooth board, is covered in black Indian Ink. Using a series of shaped knives, the black is scratched away revealing the white card. The more scratching, the whiter the end result. Different effects can be achieved by either the amount of black removed, or the direction/way it has been removed . Over the years, John has literally made hundreds of these – mostly for sale or gifts. We hardly had any of them. Then, suddenly, we had the opportunity to buy a few back. We didn’t think twice… Now our kitchen diner is resplendent with three walls covered in these beautiful pictures. It is incredible difficult to photograph them, as they are behind glass; so please excuse the fact that some of these are not quite “ticketty-boo”!
