Hello my friends. Here we are again – another week passed us by and it is now February! How??? January seems to have simply slipped past me! However… there has actually been some action on the workdesk this week – so…

… a picture from both ends of the desk today. I have actually been making a few cards. My efforts are always really simple compared to so many of yours, but I do what I do, and struggle with anything more (maybe it’s my age?!) Sitting there are some stamp sets, and at the other end of the desk are a pile of inks. The actual workspace is empty as I had just finished one card ready to photograph things. As you can see, it didn’t take me long to make a complete mess of the landing following my sorting from last week – more of that in a moment – there are two boxes of ribbons on the floor, a drawer with all glittery things in, sitting on a stool, a nearly full (again) waste bin, and John’s old computer. I still have to use that for a couple of bits that won’t transfer properly to my new one. And this is what I have been up to this fine morning…

A few cards for charity – the start of what I hope will become a good pile!

Last week I was sorting my threads out into some logical order. I couldn’t quite believe how much discussion they prompted. The boxes were bought from a company called Lovecrafts – £3.99 each and they hold about 100 threads. https://www.lovecrafts.com/en-gb/ The boxes come with the little cards for each thread – time consuming to wind them on, but well worth it. I have over the years taught people different craft skills, and one person used to hand me back any unused threads all in a jumble. Eek! That was when I started to keep them ready wound like they now are. Each little card has the make and the number on it, so it’s an easy task to simply lift out the ones I need for a project. Now they are done – and the boxes look like they are holding jewels. I mainly use DMC threads, and the shimmer on them is gorgeous!

Since finishing that, I decided to carry on with a bit more sorting – and now all my cross stitch patterns are neatly organised. I went through about 20 years of magazines and simply kept the designs I thought I might one day do. I did, manage to salvage and keep my 15 minutes of fame – the page in December 2004 of Cross Stitch Crazy, where John and I were featured!! Then I did the same with my pergamano mags too. Oh boy!! ! Of course, once I had pulled out projects from the magazines, there was an incredible amount in the recycle bin… oops! No good passing on to charity shops when so many pages are missing.

So, that’s me this week – still tweaking the charity’s website and trying to make it look good to encourage folks to meander through it on whatever computer, i-pad, phone… they use for browsing. Here it is if anyone wants a gander through! https://www.christianhopeuganda.uk/ No pressure.

And so, a final picture – taken some time back from my landing window! Sunset in North Wales.

That’s it, folks. Take care of yourselves. God bless.

Margaret.

  1. Sounds like you have been busy sorting and making indeed Margaret. Love the selection of cards you have made. Good luck with the rest of the tidying. Stay safe and Happy WOYWW. Sarah #4

  2. I love your cards! they are absolutely gorgeous. Well done on sorting and organising, and for being featured in the cross stitch mag all those years ago!! Have a great week. Love that sunset. Helen #5

  3. A cute and unique set of cards there. You got quite a lot of cards from those papers. I have lots of boxes and cards but I don’t do cross stitch anymore (my eyes aren’t up to it) and I found when winding ribbon, for example, the creases were set in. So now I use the boxes without the cards for tiny flowers, buttons, all sorts of things. Sorting is so satisfying, isn’t it?

    Back on track 😀

  4. I really love that I’ve seen for real where you craft and can imagine you sitting up there. It sounds like you’ve been really busy and so organised….well done you.

  5. You have been busy with your sorting – always so satisfying when it’s done. Your little lilac cards are really lovely and will sell well, I am sure. They look pretty complicated to me! xx Jo

  6. Look at that sunset, gorgeous! We had a good one too last night. Well done on the sorting out but at least you had time to sit and craft. I do like simple cards, as much as I can really appreciate someone’s hard work with embossing and layering, it’s the simple designs that I like best!

  7. Your sunset picture is beautiful, you could print that out and use it for some of your card making. I am sure you have a point about cards becoming simpler as you get older. I look back at some of my work and although `I remember it I think ‘did I make that”. My card making has certainly got simpler unless it is a special card and then i tend to go overboard. Your cards are classy and I love the colours you chose to use.
Good to see you have been tidying your threads up, I am surrounded by good people all doing tidying of some sort – guess I had better get cracking when the back eases.

  8. Love the shape of your photos! Great shots of your desk.
I have those boxes as well, one set for Anchor and one set for DMC, trouble is they must be 20 years old now and the threads are permanently creased!!
Just love those beautiful cards, so delicate. I may just have to borrow the torn paper idea, love the way the sentiment sits at the side.
I have had a miracle happen this last week, after nearly 18 months of fighting the HSBC to be able to access my funds (they froze the joint account when Peter died) they have acknowledged me at last! Praise God!
Take care and be blessed by the one true living God

  9. Thanks for the visit. I love your oval photos and those slim line cards. THe one with the purple flower is my fav, I do love purple. It’s been so long since I’ve visited a hobby shop to even see slim line envelopes etc. Your sunset photo is beautiful, several nights we’ve had awesome sunsets. And our days are getting longer. Enjoy a fun WOYWW and Be Safe.

  10. Loving the cards my absolute favourite colour. I think we all have our own style and yours is lovely.

We get a good 2 months out of our real Christmas tree as we get it advent weekend which is usually the end of November! We do take all the other decorations down the beginning of January but as our conservatory isn’t heated and also closed off but visible from both the lounge and kitchen we leave it until Candlemas.

The photos are for 6 months and I probably won’t use them all, we’ll see.

    Thanks for the visit BJ#13

  11. Your cards are beautiful Margaret, I love the long elegant shape – did you have envelopes to size or did you have to make them. The colours ae so pretty too, I’m sure they will be snapped up – I don’t know anyone who doesn’t love lavender!
The desks look just busy enough to be inviting and encourage some creativity but not too busy to be off-putting! I enjoyed seeing your charity site (couldn’t get the link to work! ), you’ve done a fantastic job on setting it up – very interesting and informative.
Hope you have a lovely week,

  12. Your cards are lovely, my favourite colours. I do the same with the magazines I get, but I have a tendency to go through what I have kept a few months later and chuck them out! Your website is impressive, hope you get lots of donations.. Angela #9

  13. Gorgeous cards Margaret. As I see it we craft for our own enjoyment and if someone likes what we make that’s nice too but no matter what they think we’ll still do it because it keeps us sane. I often try new stuff because I’ve done that all my life but if it doesn’t work for me I don’t bother with it again. Have a great woyww. Hugs, Angela 16x

  14. Maggie, I am back! So good to see your desk again, and a busy one, too. Your cards are lovely. I remember you are busy with charities. Have a great day!

  15. Starting at the end…my word that sunset shot is perfect isn’t it, I beat you bought the house specifically for the westerly view on days like that!! Lovely to see the landing strip so used and busy again…beautiful cards, that lavender colour dips gorgeous. Without inundating you, if you’d like me/people to contribute some cards, I’d be honoured to do so or you could ask on a Wednesday, might release some pressure on you! Whilst I was admiring your ink collection, I again spotted so had to mention that gorgeous pic of your gals and their families….I know it’s not fully recent, but isn’t it nice to have them all there in one pic, looking on and smiling at you while you work.

  16. I love the cards Margret! and ‘specially the colours and the way you’ve mixed and matched the patterns! And also that lovely long white bench you have. I had one like that when I was in our bigger bedroom and I do miss it! the length that is, as the one I have now, it the same one, but shorter but both were just as messy.
AH!! the dog just nudged my arm and everything I typed disappeared, but!! I’ve just realised, after all these years… I can use the ‘undo’ click on my mouse and everything comes back! Puuurrrfect! HappyLate WOYWW 661!? Stay Safe and keep On Crafting! ((Lyn)) #23…last!

  17. What a beautiful photo! Your cards are lovely, a nice start to a stash for charity! Have a great week, Lindart #20
