Good grief – the girl’s been doing some craft stuff!!

Hello my friends. I hope you are well and enjoying something of Spring here in the Northern hemisphere, and the beginning of Autumn in the Southern. You find me in the throes of about five different projects on my desk today. This picture was taken Tuesday afternoon – you can see I even had to push the chair almost out of the picture in order for you to see everything. So – from the window toward the front of the photo… My CD player – love to have music whilst working, it does something to my creative soul. Below that, and spread out nearly to the top of the stairs – boxes, drawers, open, pulled out, left on the floor – paints, papers, inks, card blanks, envelopes. Still on the floor – a full waste bin, around which, scattered like confetti, lies paper poo from all the die-cuts I have been doing. Up on the desk is a clear plastic box with something black on top – that’s all my pergamano stuff, getting it together ready to take away with me in a couple of weeks. I have a couple of BIG projects I would like to do whilst away – to which end I have treated myself to some polychromos pencils. I’ve not done much with pencils before, but really wanted to try them out.

Moving toward the camera is my sewing machine – had some mending desperately needing doing – so tackled that this morning (Tuesday). There’s a pile of finished cards – awaiting being bagged and priced for the hotel, and then… the really exciting bit… a pile of paper, diaries, caravan club site book, national trust membership book – all jumbled together as I put together some plans for the summer. Believe it or not, I am having to book pitches now for later in the year, or I wouldn’t get the site I want! One told me Monday that I had got almost the last booking for the nights I needed, and they have 120 pitches!

But, it’s all coming together now. Trips 1, 2, and 4 are all planned and booked – just need to see to trip 3. Not quite settled in my mind yet about that one. It means that in the course of the next six months, I shall be travelling the length and breadth of most of England and Wales! Oh wow!! A once in a lifetime opportunity to take time out just for me. Sounds selfish? I will be going to places John couldn’t go because of his physical limitations – so I have never been either – we went where he could easily manage, and that way he (and I) had some wonderful holidays together.

So, that’s my desk – what exactly have I been doing?

A small sample of the cards for the hotel – which is already under way for the season. Some die-cut fronts, some Pollyanna Pickering, some triple stamping, I’ve been using up some spare ATCs as toppers, and using the freebies of the Country Diary recently in a magazine. Lots of other things, too; but I didn’t think I ought to show you quite all of them… the hotel already has over 70 cards!!

So that’s me here on the North Wales coast on a gloriously sunny afternoon. I leave you with a couple of photos on days out I have taken recently – a trip on the Welsh Highland Preserved Steam Railway, and some time in Bodnant Gardens.

Take care, my friends – not long to the crop when I hope to see many of you. I’ll be coming with Mrs D and Canu Camilla – all headed for a Grand Day Out!

God bless.

Margaret

  1. Am sure your John is looking down on you and saying “go get ’em girl” (in Welsh of course) as you traverse the country. He will enjoy the places he could not physically go to through your adventures..
Lovely cards, you have been busy – and a great shot of your work-room – that is some desk and a half you have there – and everything so organised.
Ah Bodnant, I cannot go to your part of |Wales without a visit to Bodnant – the laburnum arch is like one of the Wonders of the World.
    Hugs Neet 3 xx

  9. Hi Margaret. I just love your workplace, it’s so organised. Sadly I cannot say the same for mine and I have no excuse just too much stuff! Pleased to hear you’re getting organised for the summer, maybe we’ll get to see some of the places you visit. Happy woyww, Angela x16x

  10. Great to see you joining in Margaret and seeing the craft room I know well now, and yes it’s a grand spread. I didn’t show my craft room today as wasn’t uomtomcraftign in there, needed to sit down and mine is standing desk.. so moved to dining room. Love the cards and recognised the blue kingfisher as I’ve some of them still not used… was good spot that shop.
Must wriggle on its late here again, we’ve turned clocks back and you’ve gone forward so it’s all two hours too early for me till adjust. ?

  11. What exciting days ahead!!! Hope you can get trip 3 sorted.
Love all the cards, especially the mat and layered ones, those are the technique with which I am having a problem. Perseverance (and a prayer!) are the words.
Keep up the good work and enjoy, stay blesssed

  12. My goodness – you have been very busy and have a lot to show for it! It’s funny how some people like to create with music on in the background – I prefer peace and quiet myself – I don’t know why! I think it’s because I can only concentrate on one thing at a time and I find anything going on in the background distracting. Strange that! Glad I caught you on WOYWW this week Margaret – it seems like ages since I last visited and it’s been nice catching up! zsuzsa #21

  13. Oh Margaret you must think I’m awful. You have offered help twice now and I have intending replying but my train of thought has gone elsewhere….sorry my friend. Yes please to anything you fancy bringing….esp cake. We have had a couple of sessions together plotting and planning and hope it will be a real celebration of 10 years of friendship.
    Hugs,

  15. Hi Margaret, What a beautiful selection of cards. You have been busy.

Glad you have three out of four trips all sorted.

Thanks for stopping by my blog.

  16. I’m sure John will be alongside you enjoying your happy times on your trips away – I hope they all go to plan and you have a fab time. We hope to get up to Bodnant in May. We called in on our way back from the crop and decided it was worth a Springtime visit! xx Jo

  17. My word, what a busy lady! Love your beautiful light and airy creative space. I think my hubby would probably complain if I followed your brilliant idea and took over the landing! Your cards are all beautiful. I didn’t post a photo of my studio because it’s a total tip, with boxes all over the floor – can’t bear the thought of putting all those heavy boxes of wool back till I’m sure I won’t need them for the current project, so on the floor they stay! Thank you for your visit, and I’m sorry about the missing photos. I have now reposted on my new WordPress blog https://shoshiplatypus.com and you can see them there, plus the update about my hospital appointment – thank you for your good wishes for that, too.

    God bless and happy WOYWW,

  18. Happy Belated WOYWW. I am loving the spring weather. It is often cold here, but sunny, and the longer days enable me to get out in the evening for a walk (although sometimes I have too much pain later in the day). Wonderful to see your crafty area so light (and busy!). The hotel must love you being so productive. I actually have a card to make this morning (our 2nd granddaughter’s birthday next week), but normally business/study takes priority now (sadly it is more important to try and make some money at this stage of our lives). I look forward to hearing more about your trips. I was looking at photos of our last caravan earlier this week, and I do miss it (it was very spacious and comfortable), but we do not miss the towing on windy days (the campervan is much easier to drive) and I do not miss the constant cleaning/maintenance. Rich mainly uses the campervan for his cycling events, so I am not so fussy at keeping it spotless inside and out! Ali x #22

  19. HI Margaret, Ooh love the cards and the colors on that Train engine and I smiled and nodded over your cd player I have an Ipod docking station in mine same deal, music is always going when I am up here. 🙂 ~Stacy #28

  20. Hello Margaret. Thanks for the visit. I really like my new pencil sharpener and I do believe since I invested so much in the pencils, I might as well get the right tool to sharpen them. I thought the price was reasonable. I have only had it for two days so I will let you know if it stays sharp long etc. over time. I have not bought any polychromos since I am trying to finish my Prismacolor collection. But would love to try them. I love seeing your desk with all those projects. It’s inspiring. Oh and wow, the cards are amazing. Do you sell them to the hotel? I can’t wait to hear more about your travels. Please share pictures. I really love the two you shared today. Oh and the detail in the floral photo is amazing.
It’s sunny today and about 43 F here. Spring is slowly arriving. I will have to share pictures of my bulbs that are blooming. Have a blessed day my friend!

  21. My, you have been busy! And what an exciting summer you have lined up! There’s nothing like anticipating upcoming trips, I think – will you keep a travel journal? Thanks for your visit and have a great week! Lindart #29

  22. Hello Margaret. I was sure I had left a comment yesterday. On checking I’d replied to everyone I can’t see it.
Anyway safe travels. What fun you will have! All being well I will see you at the Crop. Anne X 14
