WOYWW401
Hello my friends.
Thanks to so many of you for visiting and leaving comments last week. Apologies if I didn’t manage to visit you – I made it to most folks, but a few escaped…
So – without further ado – my desk –
As you can see – it’s full of activity. By the angle of the lamp/magnifier you may guess that I am working close up! Yes, it’s a pergamano image. I can’t see without both my specs and the magnifier these days!! Must be getting old. On top of the box in the foreground is a pile of metallic grids. I’m trying one out. Not done pergamano this way before, and not sure I am yet convinced. Feels like cheating, somehow, although I know many people do use these grids. Also on the worktop are some watercolour pens I was using earlier, and a great mess of papers and photos and general detritus over near the computer.
Just to the left of where the above picture was taken is this rapidly filling box of cards for the local hotel. I’ve now done 60 general cards and 20 Easter cards.
A little light relief from making cards has been going on in the living room.
The tiny baby jumper is finished ready for the arrival VERY shortly.
Mrs D and I went off to the show at Manchester Event City last Friday, and had a fun day out. Lots to see, lots of new ideas to interest us, old friends to meet. There were many more knitting and sewing contributors this time, which was good. I bought this die on the Pink Frog stand. It’s 5inches square, and cuts well – although it takes a lot of passes through the machine to get it to cut right in the middle. Why don’t die cutting machines have the pressure right the way across???!!!
And last, but not least, a picture of the blanket I have just finished. The latest in a long line sewn together with those squarish squares!!! You can see from the photo that the squares are all different sizes, so it’s quite a puzzle joining them together to make something reasonable.
So that’s me this week, folks. Each room in the house currently has a pile of things in it that I am working on. Nowhere is neat and tidy. All is chaos. Oh well, it just says I’m not bored yet!
Take care my friends. I’ll endeavour to get around as many of you as possible, and leave comments where ever I can.
God bless.
Margaret

Hi Margaret, finally home and spending some time visiting everyone. You have been extremely busy, so many projects completed. I totally agree about the die- it has only been a 5″ wide die UI had problems with, and it would indeed make like so much easier if the machines had a constant pressure! Have the rest of a lovely week, and thank you for so many good wishes. Hugs, Shaz Xxx #4

My big shot plates are a bit worn in the middle and that certainly reduces the depth of cut in the middle. Also, if you have space, offer the die to the rollers at an angle other than straight edge on…it may help. It’s a beautiful die. You’re doing well with the cards for the hotel. If you’re going to be offering Pergamano cards for sale, the Fred will surely make a more cost effective use of the time you spend? It’s not cheating, really, it’s just using a tool!

Hi Margaret So you and Mrs D were in my part of the country whilst I was out – glad you enjoyed the show. I did hear it had little paper crafting and more of other crafts. My word, you have been busy, and have a jigsaw on the go as well. I haven’t a clue why machines have a sweet spot but it happens to the best of them so just shim, shim and shim.. Hugs & Thanks for visiting me earlier (whilst I was in the air LOL) xxx 47

HI, I’ve been following WOYWW for a couple years now. I have not been successful in starting my own blog so have been unable to contribute. I have the same die by Crafter’s Companion. You need a Gemini die cutting machine! It is amazing and cuts this heart perfectly. I made an anniversary card for my husband last month using it. Thanks for sharing, hopefully I will be able to soon. I’m a bit further along than last year as started using Blogger.

Wow.. that die cut looks so delicate and pretty… I too wish machines had equal pressure.. I end up using paper shims a lot. Love the variety of projects you have on the go 🙂 Have a great week Erika #46

Lots of great projects! The sweater is adorable, the blanket looks nice and warm! The card is beautiful – You would think that machines would have the same pressure all across! My hubby and I used to do a lot of puzzles together, but not any more. I hope your cards are selling – that’s a lot of cards! Thanks for sharing, Lindart #45

What a busy desk!!! And what an accomplishment of all the cards made. The die is so intricate, have you tried shimming the center with a piece of card stock to help with the pressure? Thanks for the visit and God bless! Carol N #34

I know what you mean about the pressure. I’ve just ordered a new platform for my Bigshot that has a raised area in the middle. I have high hopes for detailed dies like yours. It is really beautiful and shown off to great effect on your card. Fiona #11

Gosh that sure is an intricate die. The machines don’t cut so well in the centre as the metal bars are only supported at the sides and under so much pressure they tend to give a little in the centre. Thinking now it was a rhetorical question LOL. Lots of lovely projects going on, glad you aren’t bored yet. Thanks for the visit BJ#9

It sounds like you’re having a great time, Margaret! I’m so glad you got to the show with Mrs D – I love the heart die but what a shame it’s so fiddly. A huge well done for working out the squares blanket, it’s not easy trying to fit everything together so the pattern works! Hugs, LLJ 18 xxxx

Good morning, Margaret What lovely items you have to show. I love pergomano pieces. I haven’t done any in a very long time. The last picture… are those squares knitted or fabric. Gave me the idea to do fabric squares. Heavens know I have enough LOL. I just donated all my scrap yarn to a new Girl Scout troop starting up but fabric has potential. hmm… now you have me thinking, Miss Enabler! LOL Love ya bunches. Creative Blessings! Kelly #32

Love that blanket, the joining stitching really ‘makes’ it! That’s a really delicate heart and yes, I often wonder that about the centre of cutting machines, maybe we should all send in the question, bombarding the manufacturers might make them take a bit of notice!! lol Have a good week Christine #24
