Hello, my friends spread throughout the world. It’s good to be back home after our week away. Yes, we made it – but more about that later… I’m here to join in with What’s On Your Workdesk Wednesday, which last week celebrated its 7th birthday, and is usually hosted by the delectable Julia. However, she is “indisposed”, so we are currently hosted by that fabulous wiz with a sewing machine – Jan – right here. Why don’t you join us…

So, here’s what you all need to see – my workdesk.

You can see that my posh new shelves are still neat and tidy – only because we haven’t been there to mess them up. In the foreground is a book Mrs D has lent us, a bag of goodies which I can use if I like them – and then the box contains most of Mrs D’s dies which I am looking after for her whilst she is away, and ditto her stamps in the white folder. The desktop on the computer is a picture of teasel heads I took last year at Martin Mere. Not a lot of activity, you say – and you would be right. I have done nothing but try to catch up since getting home.

I knew I couldn’t take part in last week’s ATC swap as we were due to be away. Imagine my surprise and delight to come home to this lovely design by Shaz silverwolf. She simply wanted to send me one anyway. THANK YOU so much Shaz – a lovely gift.

So that is my desk… Just before going away I learned that my entry in the Winter wonderland “Anything but a card” challenge had won first prize!! I had the opportunity to choose $12 of digital images from Di’s Digital Images. These gorgeous fun images are really reasonably priced – and beautifully drawn. Before we went away I printed my choice onto different sort of paper – watercolour card, thin card, and the reverse of some Centura Pearl card. They came out beautifully, and I had fun beginning to colour them. Aren’t they just fun and quirky?

We have enjoyed our break, and managed to go out most days. John coped well with a situation we simply didn’t know at all, and didn’t go down with an infection. We drove around Coniston lake, went from Windermere up over the pass via Thirlmere to Keswick and then back over the Shap, visited Martin Mere on a gloriously sunny and warm day, and went to The Paper warehouse in Kendal… yes, afraid so… couldn’t resist some of the half price and 30% off offers!!!

Some freebies with magazines, a Britannia die at half price, a spellbinders die at 30% off, a Woodware stamp also at 30% off, some pergamano supplies, stickles, liquid pearls, a large stamp block, water colour paper, and a notebook. Yes, I’m going to try (when I get some time) to alter its cover… about time I went outside my little comfort zone!!!

We were sitting in the lounge at the holiday bungalow one afternoon – and – look who came calling! A delightful surprise. I don’t think I have ever been so close to a Roe deer. He was quite casual about dropping in to people’s gardens and munching on their greenery! Wasn’t bothered about me being so close – until I opened the window to get a clearer shot, and then became quite nervous.

So, that is it for this week, folks. I pray Julia may now be beginning her recovery after major surgery – and wish her well.

Take care, dear friends. God bless.

Margaret

What a beautiful shot! They are so pretty. Enjoy playing with Mrs. D’s goodies. What a good friend to have you toy sit while she’s healing up. Yes, Shaz is a dear one and what a lovely ATC. Would you like another? I have several left and happily share. Lots of goodies on your shopping trip. I love the stamp set with the magazine. I’ve not gotten that one. I do subscribe to one of those. Which mag/ issue is that one? Since mine come to the states, I’m usually about 2 weeks behind everyone across the pond. Hope you have a great week! Creative BLessings! Kelly #46

Hi Margaret, Lucky you getting an ATC despite not actually able to join in. I got 3 “extra” ATCs too. Twiglet forgot to put an asterix so said she’d send to me anyways and I got 2 for the price of one there and my sendee returned one to me too. I got your misspelt comment via email and had a chuckle, I have deleted the comment you deleted which just said you’d deleted it!!! Happy belated WOYWW BJ #32

So glad the holiday went well and John managed to stay well throughout. He has done great of late hasn’t he? How wonderful to see the deer so close up too, I would have been in seventh heaven had it been in my garden. Lovely stash you bought and you came home to a pile of things left by Mrs D for you to enjoy whilst she is away. Enjoy yourself and say Hello to John from me. Hugs, Neet xx 14

I’m so glad you and John had such a great time away. I recognise a lot of the places you visited as we have been to the LakeDistrict many times when we lived in the UK. It is stunningly beautiful if you are lucky enough to have reasonable weather. The little deer is so cute. Obviously used to tourists. Well done you for winn ing the digital images. They are indeed very sweet. Have a good week, Happy WOYWW, Lisca

I’m so glad you had a lovely holiday and your husband had an enjoyable time too. What an experience if must have been to be so close to that beautiful little deer, and what a lovely shot you got of him – I find whenever I point my camera at an animal or bird it always disappears between me aiming and me pressing the shutter button!! Well done for winning first prize, what a great lot of images you won. Hope you have a good week, Diana #29

Hi Margaret, lovely to hear your holiday went so well, and that John enjoyed and coped with it too. What a beautiful picture of that deer- so lovely when we can get closer than normal to nature! Your mention on The Paper Warehouse made me smile. One time when we went up to Scotland, to meet some friends of Dougs, we came back that way, and we popped in there too.I am pleased you like your ATC, it was my pleasure, I assure you. Your daughter is, to me, is one of the most important parts of the NHS! This is the second time I’ve had physio- I had it when I fractured my shoulderblade, oddly enough with exactly the same physio I have now, and that gave me full movement back in my shoulder. So when I was struggling to do some things this time, I asked my surgeon to refer me for some physio.I go every Friday morning for an hour, to the Lower Limb clinic, and even after just five weeks, I can see a huge difference. I was almost ecstatic on Sunday when I managed to crouch down, and then get myself up again!Have a great week, Hugs, Shaz #18 xx

Oh, I’m so glad you had a lovely holiday – the paper shop sounds lethal to someone with a serious craft habit! I think JUlia would have a field day there, she does have a weakness for lovely stationery 🙂 The pic of that deer is amazing, they can get so used to humans! Hugs, LLJ xxxx
