Hello my friends. Straight in this week with what we are all here for – my desk this late Tuesday evening. Part way through a project to make a shaped box – experimenting with the Ultimate Pro John bought me for Christmas. So – you can see – the DVD playing on the computer, giving me the instructions; a large orange tub with water and stencils (just haven’t gotten round to cleaning the stencils!!); a drawer unit with my brusho paints; a couple of unfinished dumfings; scissors; embossing tool; double sided tape; and the usual clutter with which we all surround ourselves.
And so to the project I’m working on – a triangular box. I shall decorate it tomorrow then see about popping some goodies into it. I have to say, the Ultimate pro is incredibly easy to use for making oddities like triangular boxes, fancy shaped cards…. you name it, really.
I have also managed extra time here at my desk this week – the previous two posts show some of the cards I have managed to make – challenge entries – but they gave me the opportunity to try out some different techniques, shapes, and ideas.
So, that’s us this week – short and sweet. We have booked ourselves tickets to go to the show on Friday in York. Yes, I realise that York is the other side of the Pennines from here, but we decided it wasn’t so very far when we considered the fact that we frequently go to the Lake District for a day! Anyone else going? If you are, do let us know, and we can meet for a cuppa? Apologies again for those who left any comments last week to which we did not reply. Some sites I just cannot reply to – usually Google+ folk – I do come and visit and read….

What a lovely box, Margaret – such pretty paper and an unusual shape too. That was a great Christmas present from John! Please send him my love and hope he’s feeling OK at the moment. Thank you for your visit and your lovely comment. The visit with Mum wasn’t that good (they never are, unfortunately…) – things are not easy and she moans a lot. She is in the best place (although she can’t see it) because she is no longer capable of living even semi-independently these days. She will be 95 next month. I’ve been too busy lately and having to rest big time on days when not doing anything. Oh well, I suppose I’ll get back into a proper routine before long! Happy belated WOYWW, Shoshi #53

Your desk looks very tidy, I must say. Those boxes make fun presents, I think. Will you show us the box when decorated, please. Wow, going to the show. That is fantastic! Wish I could come. I have had the Ultimate Pro for a long time now, but I think I do need to get another board to do these boxes. I know Crafters Companion sell them singly for those of us who need to upgrade. My mom teached me long ago how to fold a square shaped box (with a lid, and without glueing) but I’ve never tried to create a triangular box – I even never thought about it… how wonderful it looks! Happy woyww and hugs from Holland, Marit #34

Such a lovely and unusual box – it looks like you’ve really got to grips with your new machine. I would love one but I am put off by the amount of learning time I have to invest – it took me nearly a year to finally get round to getting the book out and learn how to thread up and use my new sewing machine! Ooh, a triangular box – I made one of those once for a book I did but it was just “cobbled together” and so not very sturdy. In fact it is always falling in bits.
